Welcome to Vintage pretty and pink.My name is Lesley, the
one and only person behind this venture.I live in the beautiful
Dandenong ranges,up the top of a chilly mountain amongst the treetops!
After many years of running a successful Ebay business, I have
decided to branch out and open my own website to bring a wider
variety of beautiful items to brighten up your home. I specialise
in all things Vintage, Pretty and Pink, hence the name for my business!
I have been making my original lamps, quilts, bags,
cushions and chandeliers for the last 7 years after not being
able to find what I wanted in stores when renovating my old 1940's
house.
I had a great time sourcing old items and doing them up,
it became quite addictive.I fell into the selling side of things
by accident, I was listing some of my daughters baby clothes
on Ebay and had far more interest in the lamps and cushions in
the background, I ended up with a lot of orders in the first
week. It has all taken off from there and I haven't looked back.
I
cut back my hours as a nurse to concentrate on my designing.
I still work several days a week at a large Melbourne hospital,
but combine blood and guts with pretty fabrics and sewing, I
couldnt ask for 2 more contrasting jobs or 2 jobs I love more.
I have been sewing since I was 5 years old, my
Mother taught me crocheting and knitting and needlework and I
always had a love of painting and drawing. Anything arty, I loved
doing it. I studied art privately throughout high school and
had my work featured in many exhibitions.
I still get out the
paint brushes ocassionally if I have spare time. I designed wedding
and bridal dresses for a while before I had kids, but once you
have children around it is not practical to have 10 metres of
very expensive silk lying around the house with grubby vegemite
fingers.
My work has featured in many magazines over
the last few years, Country Home Ideas, Country collections,
Handmade, Country Living, and my house has also been featured
in a large spread.
I also regularly provide my original patterns
and items for Handmade, featuring in several issues this year
and last as well as the diary, year book and calendar.
Anyway, enough about me, have a look through my site and I hope
you'll find something you like!
